A celebration of handmade art glass by Carl Erickson and his team of glass masters at the Erickson Glass Works (1943-1961) in Bremen, Ohio. Erickson Glass Works was a renowned mid-century American studio art glass company.

In 1906, at the age of 7, master glassblower Carl Erickson immigrated with his family from Reimyre, Sweden. He grew up in a family of master glassblowers, and at the age of 14, began his American career working as an apprentice alongside his father at the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

We are pleased to present this exhibition in honor of the Erickson Glass Works. The exhibition is made possible by the generous gifts of glass permanently donated to our archives by the following collectors:

The Ohio Glass Museum and Glass Blowing Studio in Lancaster, Ohio, is a vibrant destination dedicated to exploring the rich history, industrial evolution, and contemporary artistry of glassmaking. Visitors can view dynamic exhibits, watch daily live glassblowing demonstrations, shop for local handmade glass art, and participate in interactive studio classes in both glassblowing and fused glass.

Join us for a family-friendly street party where you will taste fantastic food and spirits at local restaurants and pubs, watch the ascent of the giant glass globe, and light up the sky with a spectacular fireworks show!

This event celebrates the importance of glass in Lancaster’s history as the community creates a beautiful piece of glass art for this fun party. The globe is a traveling piece of art until New Year’s Eve when it rises high above Zane’s Square and rings in the new year.
